Zayne and Griff by JoaoRodrigoBaptista Zayne and Griff by JoaoRodrigoBaptista
Even though I'm some sort of a comic geek, I must admit I lost interest in most of the single issue comics that come out right now. They tend to be a bit boring, and most of the time they're always preparing for the major crossover event of that year, that will change everything in the publisher's universe, just like they did the previous year. Nowadays, I tend to buy more collected issues, paperbacks, omnibus(es?), etc. That way, I get an entire story arc in the same book. Considering how my place is, it's easier to find a whole story arc in a volume, instead of a lot of single issues, they seem to lose themselves all over the place.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, from Dark Horse Comics, is an exception. It's fun and funny, the scripts are very well written and the art is, for the most part, ok. I was a fan of the Bioware game, and was a bit put off when I learned they weren't going to be focusing on the characters of the game. But they came up with Zayne Carrick, the failed padawan, and Griff, the coolest con artist in the Star Wars Universe, right after Han solo.
This is my depiction of them, hope you like it! It was also my first time drawing an alien, I think.
Hopefully, I'll be posting the color version within a week, so check back by then!

I really like the depth of field in this image. You took the conscience effort to add leaves in the front and ships flying in the back and even trees. It really helps the image out. I like the style in which you drew this in as well and that you decided to take a black and white approach. I only have two suggestions. My first on being your use of lines. It is obvious that you used lines in the characters and there is nothing wrong with that, my only quarrel is the consistency of lines through out the image. In the moons, you used lines, but in the shape ships not. It looks a bit off....personally I think you should remove the lines from the moons, so that they not only look more like moons, but so that it would be more consistent. The other options is to add lines to the ships, the trees and the plants in the front (which I feel is extra work:-)) My second suggestion would be to fix the lighting on the two characters. Since there is a light saber (or what appears to be one), that is the strongest light source by there legs, but you show that it is coming from directly in front....I think that is just a small detail though.

Overall, it is a good image :-)

It may just be the grey scale used here but this is pure nostalgia :) the characters are interesting and drawn well, attention being placed on their pose and outfits.

However I would say pay close attention the legs, the alien creature looks off balance, the leg that is straight needs to be placed more to the viewers left while the humans forward facing leg looks as though it should be slightly longer.

The shading on the face also looks out of place as it is not blended as well compared to the shading on the environment.
The detail of the leaves in both the background and the foreground are impressive and makes me wonder why the same detail wasn't applied to the moons and ships in the sky as they stand out too much and dampen the atmosphere of the image.

A brilliant picture and makes me think it's a shame there aren't more images like this :)

cool drawing, I like the cheeky atmosphere of the image. the characters look kinda awkward with their legs. One too stiff the other off balance. also the laser thingo is a little too bright near his hand. other than that great job :)

ps. I love your signature on the piece :P

I like it, very nice.
But i don't like the legs of guy on left and i think that the lines of the starships on background must be more neat!

Very interesting picture. I like the facial expressions of both characters--they are very loose and natural. The saluting-guys outfit needs a couple of tweaks. Mainly the leggings that are stark-white clash with the rest of the outfit and make a kind of white rectangle at the bottom with the alien's white trousers. Maybe something a little more contrasting?

I think I might like this better if it were colored too, but other than that I think this is really amazing! : )

I love the detail of the background, and their clothes. It all really flows together nicely ^_^

Very good job with the figures but the background looks a bit plain. There's no depth in it.
